West Side Place Stage 2 is the final stage of the $2 billion-dollar West Side Place precinct comprising of four luxury residential apartment towers and two hotels.
Stage 2 comprises of the 70-level tower 3 and 72-level tower 4 which sit atop a 10-level podium.

The residential towers comprise of a total of 1,519 individual apartments whilst the podium is comprised of comprises of the 316 room Dorsett Hotel, Retail tenancies, cafes, bars & restaurants, meeting & function rooms, and an outdoor cinema area.

Below the complex is four basement levels of car parking.

Newscom’s scope of works for the residential towers is to install all the structured cabling within the apartments along with pay-TV and free to air TV outlets ready for use by the residents when occupied and all the structured cabling for building management services and security such as CCTV.

The Dorsett Hotel with guest rooms on levels 3 through 8 and function rooms, meeting rooms, and restaurants on lower levels will have a category 6A shielded cabling system installed along with a total of 22 communications cabinets throughout the facility, all linked to the main communications room on level 8 with single-mode fibre optic cable.

Cabling will be provided to all guest rooms, meeting and function rooms, bars, and restaurants along with front and back of house areas as required.

Newscom will also supply and install all of the wireless access units for all of the hotel guest rooms.

Newscom is providing a GPON system to service the hotel guest rooms with an individual fibre cable installed to an Optical Network Terminal within each hotel room. The Optical Network Terminal then connects to the network outlets within each guest room to provide a connection to the Wifi, Media player for the LCD screens, and guest room telephone.

The hotel guest room fibre cables all link back to optical splitters locations in each hotel level communications cabinet and from there back to the GPON headend, or OLT (Optical Line Terminal)

In total, approximately 7,000 data outlets will be installed throughout the two towers and the podium.
